Please note, unless otherwise stated, materials are not supplied. We do however have some materials in the studio that can be used for a small fee payable each term.

Monday - Art for Everyone
Art for Everyone is a follow on course from Art from the Start and goes deeper into thinking and the design cycle. Like it’s cousin it is also tutor led and explore new ideas and forms. It is ideal for those who have been practicing for a while already and want to develop their understanding and their work to a new level. The two courses are not mutually exclusive and many people attend both.

Tuesday - Watercolour Techniques
This weekly class covers all things watercolour!
Perfect if you have ever wanted to try this wonderful medium or want to develop and improve your skills.
Over the weeks we will experiment, try step by step techniques, learn new tips and tricks, understand the materials, colour theory, composition - and learn a few short cuts to make life easier.

Do you need studio space to work on your art? Elsa will be available by appointment on Tuesday afternoons 2-4pm to help.

Tuesday - Art from the Start Evening Class
Join us at our friendly and accessible studio to join like minded people to create wonderful works of art. Your tutor will guide you through painting an artistic work in a style that follows that of another work, artist, or period. Creating pastiche pieces is a great way to learn about the fundamentals of art including composition, colour theory and tone.
Bring your own materials, or use ours for a small fee.

Tuesday - Life Drawing
This much loved weekly life drawing class hosted at Rough Trade on Hanover Street is a must for anyone wanting to learn and develop their drawing skills.
Our friendly tutors will guide you through various sketching and drawing exercises designed to help you improve and hone your artistic practice.

Wednesday - Seminar
Our seminars are an open ended course that focuses on theory and art history ideas. It offers a deeper dive into understanding why artists make the work they do and the kind of underpinning analysis that helps us understand our own work. It is delivered both online and during monthly gallery visits or art days out. Sessions are also generally available on pay as you attend basis to non Patrons - group size and session length varies.

Wednesday - Life Drawing
This popular weekly life drawing class is held at Smithdown Social Arts Hub, 455 Smithdown Road, L15 3JL. Our friendly and knowledgeable tutors will guide you through various sketching exercises to help you develop your observation and drawing skills.

Thursday - Discover Painting
Come to our friendly, inclusive and accessible studio and develop your painting practice. Our tutor will guide you from start to completion of oil and acrylic paintings including colour theory, composition, texture and tone.
This is a weekly, open ended course designed to support your needs covering a range of subjects including portraiture, landscape and still life. Your tutor will ensure support and guidance is available to you through demonstrations and discussions.
This class is suitable for those who already have a basic knowledge of painting with oils and acrylics. Bring your own materials or use ours for a small fee.

Thursday - Relax with Art
Join Elsa on Thursdays for a relaxing evening of art making.
Take some time for yourself and your wellbeing. These simple fun classes are designed to promote relaxation. Chill amongst friends and enjoy some music while you create. All abilities are welcome.

Friday - Art from the Start
Art From the Start is an open ended beginner level course covering introductions to basic processes of drawing, painting the design cycle and more. Line, colour and all the basic building blocks of visual language and confidence building. It is tutor lead and offers guidance even for those who have never made art before.

Sunday - Print Club
Print Club is an intermediate level participant-led open-ended course that goes deeper into process and ideas generation. It is aimed at those who may already have a little experience of printmaking but not exclusively so. The artists’ own work is the primary direction and is supported on a bespoke level with sessions trending to begin with participants setting an informal aim of what they would like to achieve.

Sunday Workshop - Hilbre Island Drawing Adventure
The very welcome return of our adventure to the island for one day, drawing and painting and then returning for a civilised throw-down in the White Lion. We start the day with a coffee at Toast café at the train station then walk down to beach and out to the island together.
Our experienced tutor will guide you through a series of exercises and challenges designed to develop your drawing and observation skills. Importantly, you will receive invaluable feedback and lots of encouragement!
This is always a lovely and enjoyable day and we would love for you to join us!
Please note the weather can change and in the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule for the next available weekend date and refund anyone who’s not available on that day.
It is a bit of a hike out to the island so remember to bring sun cream, water and snacks and sensible clothes! We really are excited to get our jewel in the crown summer day out back (some ticket discounts are available for LIAS patrons)

Saturday Workshop - Decorate a Lampshade
Come and decorate a lampshade with us!
Crafting is such a mindful and fun activity and during this workshop you will be encouraged to explore your creativity to the max. You then get to take your creation to use at home, what could be better than that!

Sunday - Developing Print
Developing Print is a tutor led intermediate course that focuses on a different type of print making each week. It offers each process in a relaxed workshop style setting with plenty of time for questions and bespoke instruction.
This is an exciting journey into the world of printmaking. If you've already done our Intro to Print course or are just looking to enhance your skills, this course is perfect for you! Get ready to unleash your creativity and learn from experienced tutor. Don't miss out on this opportunity to expand your knowledge and network with like-minded individuals. See you there!
